Two Detective Franchises, Two TV Networks, One Mystery
This is a genuinely unusual one. Detective Conan — Gōshō Aoyama's long-running mystery franchise produced by TMS Entertainment (Detective Conan, Lupin III) — airs on Yomiuri Television. Star Detective Precure!, produced by Toei Animation (One Piece, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon), airs on ABC and the TV Asahi network. Characters hopping between rival Japanese TV networks almost never happens, which is what makes this crossover, reported by Comic Natalie, such a big deal.
Episode 18, titled "Star Detectives Assemble" (名探偵の共演), drops Conan Edogawa right into the PreCure universe — and newly released preview images show him standing alongside Star Detective Precure!'s leads Anna and Mikuru, tranquilizer watch at the ready.
A Glass Slipper Goes Missing
The episode's plot centers on the Hōshō Art Museum, where glass artist Shindō Misako is holding an exhibition. The centerpiece — a glass slipper named "Midnight's Forgotten Item" — vanishes. Jet-senpai, voiced by Yūki Kaji (Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan, Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia), had been helping set up the exhibition and turns to Anna and Mikuru for help.
The girls suspect the phantom thief group Phantom is behind the theft, but they hit a dead end — no clues on how the slipper was taken out of the museum. That's where Conan enters the picture. The preview cuts show him teaming up with the Precure duo, and in classic Conan fashion, he's already got his watch-type tranquilizer gun locked and loaded.
Conan is voiced by Minami Takayama, reprising the role she's held since the franchise began in 1996.
The Crossover Goes Both Ways
This isn't a one-sided cameo. The source confirms that on June 6, Cure Answer — the lead Precure of this season, voiced by Hikari Senga — will guest-appear in the Detective Conan anime. That makes this a genuine two-way exchange between the two detective-themed franchises, crossing the Yomiuri TV / TV Asahi network divide in both directions.
Star Detective Precure!'s regular cast also includes Kaede Hondo (Sakura Minamoto in Zombie Land Saga) as Mikuru / Cure Mystique and Nao Tōyama (Rin Shima in Laid-Back Camp) as Ruruka / Cure Arcana Shadow.
Looking Ahead
Episode 18 airs in Japan on May 31, 2026. International viewers can watch Star Detective Precure! on Crunchyroll, which has been streaming the series since its February 1 premiere across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
The reverse crossover — Cure Answer's appearance in Detective Conan — is scheduled for June 6 at 18:00 JST. Whether that episode will stream simultaneously on international platforms hasn't been confirmed, though Crunchyroll does carry Detective Conan in select regions.
An official collaboration PV featuring both franchises is available on the PreCure official YouTube channel.
