A First Look at Chainsaw Man on Stage
Chainsaw Man: The Stage, the 2023 live-action stage adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga, will be available to stream for free on YouTube's Jump Channel starting June 26 at 8:00 PM JST. The window closes on June 28 at 11:59 PM JST, giving fans roughly three days to catch the full production.
This is the first time the complete show has been made available for free viewing. The first stage play covered Denji's origin story, depicting how an indebted teenager fused with his pet devil-dog Pochita and became the Chainsaw Man. For international fans who never had a chance to see the 2023 run, this is the most accessible option yet.
The Reze Arc Opens This Summer
The free stream is timed to promote Chainsaw Man: The Stage Reze Arc, the second stage production, which opens at Tokyo's Tennōzu Ginga Gekijō on July 25 and runs through August 2. The show then moves to Kyoto Gekijō for performances from August 7 to 12. Tickets are priced at ¥12,500 for weekday shows and ¥12,800 for weekends and holidays.
The Reze Arc adapts one of the manga's most popular storylines, following Denji's brief, doomed romance with the mysterious Reze, a girl who turns out to be the Bomb Devil. It's a fan-favorite stretch of Part 1 that balances genuine tenderness with Fujimoto's signature sudden violence.
Theatergoers at the Tokyo run will receive exclusive bonuses. From July 25 to 29, attendees get one of three "Moment Visual" cards capturing scenes of Denji and Reze growing closer. From July 30 to August 2, the bonus switches to character visual postcards (one of 10 designs). Kyoto audiences receive a stage-photo bromide (one of five designs) throughout the run.
The Cast Returning for Round Two
Naotake Tsuchiya (土屋直武) reprises his role as Denji, with Yui Sōma (相馬結衣) joining the cast as Reze. The returning ensemble includes Mizuki Umetsu (梅津瑞樹) as Aki Hayakawa, Mahiru Kōda (甲田まひる) as Power, and Aya Hirano (平野綾), best known as the voice of Haruhi Suzumiya in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Misa Amane in Death Note, as Makima.
The production also features Yūtarō as the Angel Devil, Hayate Kajiwara (梶原颯) as Beam, and Masahide Funaki (船木政秀) as the Violence Fiend. The Chainsaw Man suit is performed by Masahide Tada (夛田将秀) and Taisei Nakamoto, while the Bomb is played by Mai Kaida (海田真衣) and Mayu Ikeda (池田真結).
Fumiya Matsuzaki (松崎史也) returns to write and direct, with Shunsuke Wada (和田俊輔) on music and HIDALI handling choreography.
Looking Ahead
The free stream on the Jump Channel goes live June 26 at 8:00 PM JST. No subtitles have been announced, so international viewers should not expect English-language access. The Reze Arc's Tokyo performances begin July 25, with the Kyoto leg following in August.
On the anime side, Chainsaw Man's TV adaptation by MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan Final Season) continues to expand. The source manga by Fujimoto is published in English by Viz Media and is available on Shueisha's Manga Plus platform for free. For fans looking for more Chainsaw Man between anime seasons, this stream offers a way to see how Denji's world translates to a live stage.
