Kessoku Band Goes Retro-Chic
The new line is built around newly drawn art of five characters: Kessoku Band's Hitori Gotoh, Nijika Ijichi, Ryo Yamada, and Ikuyo Kita, plus Kikuri Hiroi. All five appear in retro outfits, and the illustrations cover acrylic stands and sticker sets, according to a report from Japanese anime news site Anime Anime.
The rest of the lineup is aimed at everyday use rather than the display shelf. There are drinking glasses styled after the glassware of junkissa, Japan's old-school coffee shops, and a small crossbody bag of the type sold in Japan as a "sacoche." Everything goes on sale August 15, 2026.
How the Summer Fair 2026 Works
Animate, Japan's biggest anime retail chain, is running the "Bocchi the Rock! Summer Fair 2026 Retro-Chic Girls" from August 15 through September 6, 2026, at stores nationwide and through its online shop. During the fair, shoppers get one of five bookmark designs as a bonus for every ¥1,100 (tax included) spent or put down as a preorder deposit on Bocchi the Rock! goods, or for each qualifying purchase of related books, CDs, Blu-rays, or DVDs.
There is a physical component too. Animate Yokohama Vivre, the chain's Yokohama location, will host a special exhibition of the new retro illustrations from August 15 through August 30, 2026.
Where Bocchi the Rock! Stands in 2026
The series started as a four-panel manga by Aki Hamaji, serialized in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara MAX magazine. It follows Hitori Gotoh, a painfully shy loner who joins Kessoku Band and slowly comes out of her shell alongside bandmates Nijika, Ryo, and Kita.
The TV anime premiered in fall 2022, blew up with younger viewers, and picked up a string of awards, winning an enormous following in Japan and abroad. The music carried just as far: the in-universe band's full album "Kessoku Band" topped Oricon's 2023 year-end digital album sales ranking and Billboard Japan's year-end download album chart. Theatrical compilation films followed, and Season 2 is now officially in production at CloverWorks (Spy x Family), the studio returning from the first season.
Looking Ahead
The fair runs through September 6, 2026, and the Yokohama Vivre exhibition wraps up on August 30. The Anime Anime report doesn't mention any international sales route for the new goods, though Animate's online shop is listed as a sales channel in Japan.
The series itself is easy to reach internationally. Crunchyroll streams the TV anime, Yen Press publishes the manga in English, and the manga also joined Crunchyroll's digital manga library in August 2026. As for Season 2, production is confirmed but no premiere date has been announced yet.
