Ten Anime Lead the First Lineup Wave

The opening slate mixes shows that are airing right now with titles that haven't premiered yet. The full first wave, per the announcement carried by Yahoo! News Japan: Akane-banashi, The Apothecary Diaries, Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You, Iron Wok Jan!, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4, Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia, Tougen Anki, Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court, Pop Pap Polters, and Hiromu Arakawa's Daemons of the Shadow Realm.

Three of those are brand new this summer. Iron Wok Jan!, TROYCA's adaptation of the cooking manga, premiered July 5. Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia, Science SARU's take on Tomato Soup's manga with Naoko Yamada as chief director, started July 4. Though I Am an Inept Villainess followed on July 12. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is mid-run too, with Season 4 having premiered April 3, 2026. Pop Pap Polters sits at the other end of the calendar: Mozu's stop-motion miniature animation doesn't hit TV Asahi until October, so the festival lands a few weeks ahead of its broadcast debut.

On the ABEMA original side, the first wave adds the voice actor variety show Seiyū to Yoasobi 2026, SHIBUYA ANIME BASE, and GOALOUS5, the five-member male voice actor group.

From Kabukicho to a Shibuya Rooftop

ABEMA Anime Fes started in September 2024 around Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, the entertainment complex in Shinjuku, then moved to Shibuya's MIYASHITA PARK for its second year. The 2025 edition drew more than 60,000 visitors to the venue and topped 610,000 total views on ABEMA.

Year three keeps the Shibuya setup. Stage events featuring cast members and guests will run from a special stage on MIYASHITA PARK's fourth-floor rooftop, alongside exclusive photo spots, merch sales, and meet-and-greets with characters from popular series. This year's theme translates roughly to "get even deeper into what you love about anime," and the full event title carries a sponsor: ABEMA Anime Fes 2026 supported by Comic Cmoa, a Japanese e-book service.

The key visual and the official site went live alongside the lineup reveal.

Looking Ahead

This is only the first wave. ABEMA says more titles, performers, and event details will be announced on a rolling basis through the official site and the festival's official X account, so expect the roster to keep growing over the summer.

There's no word yet on whether the 2026 stages will stream outside Japan; the 610,000 views from last year all ran through ABEMA's own platform. International fans do have easy access to much of the lineup itself, though. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and Tougen Anki both stream on Crunchyroll, and several of the summer premieres in the first wave are already simulcasting overseas.
